I'm sorry about the job. That sucks, even when you see it coming.
The whole public ed situation is such a mess right now and it sounds like you walked into a burning building knowing it was on fire. Props for doing it anyway.
Those kids are lucky they got someone who gives a shit for however long they had you.
The spidey-sense thing is real, though. I've had that same gut feeling too many times.
Sounds like yours has kept you out of a lot of bad situations over the years.
I was just speaking to a friend who had to pivot entirely to dog walking full-time.
The job market is broken and it ain't coming back.
I have no doubt you will find a way, and I cannot wait to see what you do next, Andrew.
Hey Danny :) how many kids went to Fairfax? Sonoma county is dysfunctional with 40 school districts. My high school’s district is really just the 1 high school. Suboptimal. I don’t pretend to understand what’s going on but it’s the opposite end of the LAUSD spectrum
I guess biorhythms back then ranked above astrology and hmood rings in terms of scientific credibility… :-)
I think we had around 1800 students at Fairfax, but I think enrollment has gone down significantly since we were there. LAUSD had at least 49 high school schools in the early 80s. Not sure what the numbers are now.
Keep your energetic approach to life and career/avocation amalgam rolling, Andrew. I've learned more from layoffs and getting shit canned than I did on the job. As a self-employed Boomer in my 70s, I still look forward to AI tech as a tool, not a threat.

Happy Friday!
This actually makes it easier to have fun with them up until summer - one and done!!
Dog walking ain’t so bad - one of my customers did that and when I built her site I discovered the .pet TLD 🦮
Happy Easter Monday, Andrew.
I am trying to convince her to start a dog walking stack - kinda like her day-to-day adventures.
Let’s see if she does.
this was very thoughtful and you brought up a lot of issues I hadn’t considered.
It blows my mind that an entire school district has fewer students than our high school did.
I can’t imagine how smaller school districts navigate the cycle of budget cuts and declining enrollment.
Wondering what the solution is and appreciating all the teachers who are still in their pitching.
