I have concerns with AI and what people will believe is real in social media. Nice place to hike! I may have only put my feet in the water. Those high mountain lakes get cold! Aaah, that rocking blue shag carpet in the back of your truck.... And Thiel is a dick!
Frances, I’m so glad you liked it! Good news on both of your concerns is that lots of smart people are similarly concerned and working on it. Regarding impact on the environment, there was a moment a few months back when convoluted and questionable math made the headlines on how one AI query could power a can opener or similar comparisons. These have been largely debunked and AI energy use is really no different than that of datacenters. When I worked at Microsoft, we were on a constant quest to reduce the energy used by our datacenters; Google and Amazon have similar initiatives. While it’s good PR, it’s also good business reducing the cost of online services. I believe ultimately the rise of AI will bring innovative energy solutions with it.

If it was *Question Authority* in the 70s it's *Don't Believe the Machine* now
So true!
BTW, the 80's was "Don't trust anyone over 30".
Andrew I loved this post. My concern is ethical uses of AI and it's impact on the environment. Any thoughts on that perhaps a future post .✌️🌞
