The only thing I love about SoCal is the beaches. Granted, we rarely go to Laguna anymore because it gets cray-cray during the summer, especially considering we live only five minutes away. 😂

I’m not sure the “space between turning away and being overwhelmed” is stable anymore. For a lot of grads right now, it feels like both at once. Watching the wave, while also being inside it, while also being told to build something with it.

Happy World Cup Weekend, Andrew.

NorCal vibes v different but I like them both.

Do you think grads will figure it out? I think grads will figure it out. Yknow what the problem is - listening to a bunch of Tech Evangelists - they’re just weirdos yknow? That was my superpower - I was bilingual - I could talk tech but I also could talk to normal people. These aren’t normal people

JFran wants to watch the World Cup - do you know where I can get it? I have to figure that out pronto

Ummm it's showing on Fox11 and FS1. We have Hulu because no other options so I'm not sure what that translates to in NorCal.

They will if they give people like YOU a platform. They will be misguided if they continue to give these other schmucks a platform.

K Tx; cancelled Hulu after the jimmy kimmel idiocracy but I'll figure it out.

Me, I'm done with platforms.

I hear you. You can search for it on YouTube. They are being really stupid with their streaming rights this time. I know for the first time many Trinidadians have to pay to watch where before it was included in their cable subscriptions.

I fell in love w/the PCH roughly 25 years ago!

Spider-Van is really coming along. Do you think road-tripping is a prominent part of the next few years?

Oh yeah; she’s my dance card through my 60’s. We’re planning to go down to Baja in Feb. Drink beer and eat tacos on the beach following the whales for a month. Adding a racing stripe and some lights and a lift kit for that adventure. SKRRT!

I love it! Maybe I have a road trip or three in me in my 60s. I hope so - had such a great time traveling the US, but got burned out pretty badly about 15 years ago and have never looked back.

Do tell?! You have not written about that, I don’t think. I got burnt out by int’l travel, airplane travel. Roaming the earth in a van is OK

Most of it was grinding road trips to teach BJJ and/or run tournaments and/or help others run theirs, EG seminars. Lather, rinse, repeat- and try to bundle locations so you make the trip efficient. I could charge less for seminars because of somewhat thoughtful planning - that part was cool, and so was seeing dozens of BJJ schools and tournaments. That study would prove useful.

But mainly, I lived inside my car and various gyms.

that sounds rough; I got not hi ing on that

Yeah - but it was exciting and what I wanted to do with my life, so it definitely worked (and I was very fortunate to have that opportunity). Still, I got way burned out. I think that happens a lot when you're passionate and just grind with no thought for balance, you know? I'm still learning the balance part.
