This was good! I did something very similar a while back that was probably too ambitious: I tried to do it with 100 years instead of 30. Still, I did the mental work to understand what a century is, if nothing more than twice what I've already lived through.
30 came natural because I just turned 60 and when I figured out 30 years aligned generally with a generation, I could make it about my family as well as events around the area seeing how far I could go back before I totally lost the ancestry trail. My format was play it back, play it forward and also work in a lot of pics photo-essay style. I’ve been super curious about the Bohemian Grove anyway. I used ChatGPTs research feature for that which was the first time I used that—impressive.
Mine was def too ambitious but I was motivated by another piece to try a different writing style.
I liked it. It wasn't as focused as some of your other stuff, maybe, but the theme was really cool and I think you did a great job of peeling your personal curtain back.
I think I was contemplating approaching 50 for the first time, so I kinda did the same thing you did w/30 - it was just an age-specific observation I made in passing that I sort of dived into.

If you have the bandwidth, you might really like it (though it's older and I think I am a better writer now): https://goatfury.substack.com/p/personalizing-the-passage-of-time
Let's keep doing these sorts of mental journeys.
Thanks! I will check yours out.

Had amazing nature pee today 🙌🙌
Cult optional 🦉
I found your historical perspective and knowledge of the Bohemian Grove fascinating. However, the asking price of your first house to be disturbing.
