Dario is so obsessed with beating Sam that birdies inside Anthropic think it's starting to hurt the actual mission. There are no heroes here. Both of them use the "our tech might destroy humanity" line to raise money and then race to build it faster anyway.
Everything you say is true, but this week’s epiphany (for me) was how important it is to have a nemesis to do your best (or evilest) work. Mine just took the retirement package at MSFT so i felt it.
