Love the “hiking with daughters” story—some of my favorite climbs have been with my daughter. As for the podcast … I must be getting old, because I found it unlistenable (and I tried, for 30 minutes). I wanted a survival story, not a bunch of chatter about wedding dresses! Did your daughter force you to listen to it? :)
In addition to the high level of chatty podcast banter, NPAD has an odd format where one tells the story and the other one just chimes in with color commentary. It's funny how I don't mind much - especially on long drives - but both R and JFran find that annoying. JFran also critiques their grammar :) We listened to that one on the way back home and it actually led to some interesting wedding conversations so we just turned them down and then back up for the actual story which is pretty crazy. From the little I know about you, the one we listened to on the way up 'A Lightning Strike Rescue ...' might be in your wheelhouse, and they get into the story quicker. If you're willing to risk another try, here's the link to that episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/38CSkODrfuArOzL6lXZGEP
Ha ha, the story was interesting, that’s for sure … but when they chimed in with their own little odd stories and peppered it with “like” and other valley-girl style stuff, it just lost me. I’m curious what would happen if I put it on during a drive with my daughter? Anyway, good story. Louisa is trying to talk me into doing Mt. Rainier with her next summer and I’m deciding if I want to be that uncomfortable!
That’d be a no from me dawg! I remember — and this was 10 years ago — peeing outside and I was freezing telling myself I would never hike up a mountain and overnight again.
