This is great. Although nothing builds character like writing MergeSort in C on an exam paper.

Simultaneously makes me wish I was back in school and also very glad I had about a decade of writing code before the AI showed up.

:) i date maybe 20 years before you and coded C in college using vi. It sure is a whole new world. I hope I get time to have them redo their projects *with* AI before the year is out because it's going to blow their little minds.

I love this, Andrew. Here's why.

So often AI is framed as either a threat or a magic shortcut, but you’re showing a middle path - scaffolding students’ learning while keeping them accountable.

Happy Friday!

tx Neela! There is a lot of pundit-ing going on, it get's tiresome. It's better to actually *use* the thing. I'm surprised by how few of my kids really know how to use AI and it's fun once they get it.

I think if we all used it - even a bit - we'd be better informed. JFran is non-technical and also a lifetime teacher and she now regularly uses for for lesson plans, tutoring and learning spanish.

No, I didn't encourage her - to the contrary - because I become tech support grim 😬

It’s true, Andrew.

The loudest opinions seem to come from people who haven’t actually used it much. Once you start experimenting, it becomes way less mystical and way more practical.

Good for JFran :)

Happy Monday, Andrew…
