Computer science jeopardy would be a cool, interactive way for your students to review before the exam

'Manufactured prestige — building lore to be retold.'

I mean.... you basically described about 40% of corporate culture in one sentence. The whole machinery of making something feel elite so that the people who pass feel special enough to keep the machine going. You saw through it, and that's exactly why it annoyed you.

Happy Friday, Andrew!

I started teaching a HS class and I was talking to JFran last night (she taught public elementary school for 30 years) about how dysfunctional the system is. It reminds me of my early career in public sector where every day felt like swimming through peanut butter - bureaucratic culture is designed to sustain the status quo and squash all attempts at change.

Corporate America is the opposite and while of course that has plenty of its own faults, I left public sector screaming 30 years ago . Never looked back and I absolutely made the right choice.

Now, teaching these 20 kids for the next 3mos - THAT decision may have been a mistake! We’ll see.

Happy weekend Neela!

Swimming through peanut butter actually sounds amazing to me.

I love peanut butter.

But yeah, bureaucracy is the crunchy kind when you wanted smooth. No thank you.

Happy Monday Andrew.

Jens and I were looking at that photo yesterday trying to remember everyone. The CSS guys were the quiet ones. He reminded me we not only had the qual lab at the end but also a test at the end of each week! That must be why I don’t remember the weekends
